Michelle Breslin Rogan was rushed to the emergency room two weeks ago with complaints of severe shoulder and back pain.
After endless tests, she was diagnosed with stage IV uterine cancer that had metastasized to her liver, bones and lymph nodes.
Michelle started chemotherapy immediately but treatment had to be discontinued due to excess fluid that built up in Michelle's lungs, according to the GoFundMe page.
"She was finding it very difficult to breathe. Doctors had to place a chest tube to relieve the fluid and pressure in her lungs," it says.
"Unfortunately her right lung collapsed and became 'trapped,' preventing her from getting any oxygen and she was immediately placed on a ventilator. She was no longer able to breathe on her own."
She also contracted MRSA, delaying her treatment further.
The lifelong resident is married to John Rogan, who she met in grammar school growing up in Lyndhurst.
Michelle has worked as a Pre-K teacher at Saint Michael's Angel Academy in Lyndhurst for the past seven years and has four children and grandchildren of her own.
